About this Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative AI Framework Developer to join our dynamic team and significantly contribute to groundbreaking AI initiatives within Simcenter STAR-CCM+.
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is a highly scalable, general-purpose, multi-physics application that provides an end-to-end user experience with integrated CAD, meshing, physics modeling, and in-situ post-processing tools. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced engineering simulation and artificial intelligence.
You will be a core member of our Interoperability team, focusing on developing the AI Agents framework for STAR-CCM+ and integrating Simcenter Physics AI capabilities. This position also involves close collaboration with other specialized teams within the Interoperability division, fostering a truly collaborative and impactful environment. A key aspect of this role will be working with Model Context Protocol (MCP), exploring the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs), and leveraging AI Reduced Order Models to enhance our simulation tools.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborative Development: Work closely as part of a large, distributed, and agile team of developers, testers, and managers, contributing to a shared vision.
- Software Lifecycle Management: Leverage modern development processes and tools including Jira, Confluence, Git, GitLab, and Bitbucket for effective project and code management.
- Quality Assurance: Actively participate in peer-based code and design reviews, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and robust software.
- Problem Solving: Engage in root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex technical issues, enhancing system reliability.
- Architectural Design & Implementation: Design, build, and document high-quality, extensible, and scalable software solutions.
- Codebase Navigation: Navigate and contribute to a large, sophisticated codebase containing hundreds of modules and millions of lines of code.
- AI Specialization: Drive the development and enhancement of the AI Agent framework and Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework specifically for STAR-CCM+, pushing the boundaries of AI in simulation.
- Physics AI and AI Reduced Order Model (AI ROM): Integrate and optimize advanced Simcenter Physics AI models, specifically focusing on developing and deploying AI Reduced Order Models (ROMs), particularly those leveraging Geometric Deep Learning (GDL), to significantly accelerate simulation workflows and enhance predictive accuracy.
What You'll Bring:
- Operating System Proficiency: Strong understanding and practical experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Core Programming Expertise: Proven programming experience in modern Java and C++.
- Java Ecosystem Mastery: Facility with authoring, deploying, and managing package dependencies for Java applications in virtual environments.
- System & Process Management: Experience with process management, output, and error handling on both Linux and Windows platforms.
- Network & File Systems: Solid understanding of network and file systems, including parallel file systems.
- Object-Oriented Design: Good understanding and application of object-oriented design principles.
- Legacy Code Navigation: Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate and contribute to large, established codebases.
- Version Control: Proficient in using distributed version control systems, particularly Git.
- Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate sophisticated technical issues clearly and present data concisely to diverse audiences.
- Autonomy & Prioritization: Ability to balance multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision and mentorship.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience (Nice-to-Have):
- AI Framework Experience: Direct experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework and/or practical knowledge of using Large Language Models (LLMs).
- AI Reduced Order Models: General understanding of Reduced Order Models.
- AI Agent harness tools such as Claude Desktop, GitHub Copilot, Goose or similar.
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) / Simulation Background: Familiarity with CFD principles and the challenges of traditional simulation, understanding of how Reduced Order Models address these.
- Full Stack Development: Experience with Full Stack development methodologies and supporting tools.
