Your Responsibilities
- Independent research and publication activities in the field of „mathematics of machine learning”
- Participation in ongoing research projects as well as the development of new research initiatives in the fields of mathematics of machine learning, optimal transport, classification algorithms, and their applications in biology and medicine
- Independent teaching of courses and administration of examinations for the study programs offered by the institute.
- Academic and organizational support for students of the institute.
Your Profile
- Completed doctoral or Ph.D. studies in a mathematical discipline (or in related fields such as statistics or computer science).
- Profound knowledge in one of the following areas: mathematical methods, analysis and numerical aspects of machine learning, optimal transport, data science, harmonic analysis, or applications in biology and medicine
- Ability to integrate into the department’s research profile and to contribute to interdisciplinary cooperation projects
- Independent working style in research, teaching and administration
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
- Capacity for teamwork, organizational talent and ability to communicate

Machine learning and optimal transport is one of the research areas at the Department of Mathematics and Scientific Computing, which is represented in Graz by a dedicated team of international scientists. The associated research group covers a broad spectrum of current applications with a special focus on interdisciplinarity.
