You will be part of the Food & Beverage team at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, working closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, Restaurant Management teams, Culinary leadership, and our service professionals.
This role collaborates across departments to create exceptional wine experiences, ensuring that Rosewood's commitment to luxury, personalization, and Sense of Place is reflected in every guest interaction.
As Head Sommelier, you will lead the wine program at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, curating exceptional wine experiences that complement our culinary offerings and reflect the unique character of the destination. You will play a key role in elevating the guest journey through expert recommendations, exceptional service, and a passion for storytelling.
With a strong presence on the floor, you will act as an ambassador for the wine program while inspiring and developing the service team to deliver memorable and personalized experiences for every guest.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE
Lead and continuously develop the resort's wine program, ensuring an exceptional and diverse selection of wines and beverages
Curate wine lists that align with Rosewood's culinary philosophy, guest preferences, and Sense of Place
Provide expert wine recommendations and personalized service to enhance the guest dining experience
Create memorable moments through wine storytelling, tastings, pairings, and educational experiences
Collaborate closely with Culinary and Restaurant teams to develop wine pairing menus and seasonal offerings
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, wineries, and beverage partners
Oversee wine inventory management, ordering processes, stock control, and cellar organization
Monitor beverage costs and contribute to financial performance through effective inventory and purchasing strategies
Lead, train, and mentor service teams on wine knowledge, service standards, and upselling opportunities
Ensure compliance with all beverage regulations, quality standards, and Rosewood brand guidelines
Act as a visible presence on the floor, engaging with guests and building lasting relationships
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging wine regions, and market developments to continuously enhance the wine program
You have significant experience as a Sommelier, Head Sommelier, or in a similar wine-focused role within luxury hospitality or fine dining environments
You possess extensive knowledge of international wines, spirits, and beverage trends
You are passionate about creating exceptional guest experiences through personalized and intuitive service
You have experience managing wine inventories, purchasing processes, and beverage cost control
You are a natural leader with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop team members
You demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
You are confident engaging with discerning international guests and building meaningful relationships
You possess a recognized Sommelier certification or equivalent wine qualification
You speak fluent English AND German; and additional languages are a strong advantage
You are passionate about hospitality, storytelling, and creating unforgettable dining experiences
