The Department of Slavonic Studies is looking for a PhD student with a research project in the field of South Slavic literary and cultural studies. We offer you the opportunity to pursue your dissertation project intensively at the largest German-speaking Department of Slavonic Studies, to gain initial teaching experience and to conduct independent research in a stimulating environment.
The advertised position of a university assistant ("") is to be filled on 1 August 2026. The position is limited to the duration of an employee's absence until 30 June 2027.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
You are working on your dissertation and its completion.
You will be involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of South Slavic literary and cultural studies.
You will contribute to publications / scientific articles / lectures.
Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement.
You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.
You will support the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia and student support.
This is part of your personality:
Completed Master's/Diploma degree in Literature and Cultural Studies with a focus on Slavic Studies.
Proven interest in South Slavic studies.
Very good knowledge of German, English and BCS. Knowledge of other South Slavic languages and a broad interest in Slavic research are an advantage.
Organizational skills
Communication talent and ability to work in a team
IT user knowledge
Also desirable are
International experience
Experience with online and digitally supported learning
Basic knowledge of other Slavic languages as well as non-Slavic foreign languages
