With 27 subjects, one specialization and over 12,000 students enrolled in teacher education programmes the University of Vienna is the biggest teacher education institution in Austria. In cooperation with the partner organizations of the 'Verbund Nord-Ost' we aim to strengthen and further develop the quality of research and teaching in the field of teacher education. The Austrian Educational Competence Centre Physics does research on teaching and learning of physics. In innovative and school-relevent research and development projects we try to enhance physics teaching.
The position of a university assistant (“”) is to be filled at the Austrian Educational Competence Centre Physics. The announcement is made for four years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of four years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.
The Austrian Educational Competence Centre Physics focuses, from an academic perspective, on the teaching and learning of physics. Through innovative and practice-oriented research and development projects, we contribute to the further development of physics education. As a praedoc university assistant, you will play an active role in research, teaching and administration. In addition to supervising students, you will work on your doctoral thesis and its completion.
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Participation in research projects
- Participation in publications/ presentations
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- Interest on physics education research and development
- Masters' or teachers' degree in physics, didactical competencies
- Excellent command of written and spoken German and English
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team
If possible teaching experiences in schools and knowledge of subject didactics methodologies.
Desirable qualifications are:
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad and Basic experience in research methods and academic writing
