Salzburg University of Applied Sciences employs 450 staff members at its four campuses: Campus Urstein, Campus Kuchl, Campus Uniklinikum Salzburg, and Campus Schwarzach. We are advertising the following position as an external lecturer at the Department of Creative Technologies on the Code and Interactive Systems degree programme for the winter semester 2025/26:

Lectureship Deep Learning & Explainable AI

(up to 2 weekly semester hour / Type: Lecture with exercise)

The course is offered in the 3rd semester of the Code and Interactive Systems Master's degree program and is an introduction to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for games with a strong practical focus.

Tasks

The content includes topics such as: Theory of deep learning models; Standard neural networks (Feed-forward network, RNN,CNN); Modern neural networks (LSTM, GAN, Attention, Transformer); Application of neural networks with current frameworks on big data. Interpretability of machine learning models and specifically neural networks. Critical examination of topics related to deep learning: data protection, discrimination, etc

The language of instruction is English.

Profile

We are looking for applicants (m/f/x) with extensive practical experience in Nintendo Switch development. Formal requirements are a degree and teaching experience at a university. However, this can be compensated by relevant professional experience.

Conditions

The employment will be in the form of a freelance contract (§ 4 Para. 2 ASVG).

External lecturers are employed under the following conditions:

Employment is limited to a maximum of 6 semester hours per week.
External lecturers must have verifiable other employment subject to full social insurance.

1 semester hour = 13 teaching units of 45 minutes each
