A Day in the Life:
We are seeking a Digital PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Specialist to drive operational excellence using digital solutions and data insights. This role extends beyond traditional continuous improvement by embedding automation, data engineering, and application development into PPI initiatives. You will partner with site leadership and cross-functional teams to digitize, automate, and optimize business processes, leveraging platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), SQL-based data environments, SAP systems and modern AI based development solutions where applicable.
The ideal candidate combines data intelligence understanding with a software engineering mindset and enabling scalable, data-driven process improvements.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the deployment of the PPI Business System with a strong focus on digital transformation and automation

Design and implement scalable digital solutions to eliminate waste, reduce manual effort, and improve process reliability

Translate business process requirements into technical solutions and system workflows including Automation & Application Development

Develop and maintain Power Apps applications, Power Automate workflows, and Power BI dashboards

Build and optimize SQL queries, data models, and pipelines to support operational insights
-
Integrate data and workflows across systems, including SAP and other enterprise platforms

Develop applications for process monitoring, data visibility and optimization in a highly regulated environment

Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT/engineering teams
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
-
Advanced Degree with 3+ years, or Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience in: Application development within a highly regulated industry with strong digital/technical implementation expertise

Preferred fields: Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Operations, or related discipline
Technical Skills (Required):
-
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform:
-
Power Apps (Canvas & Model-driven apps)
-
Power Automate (workflow automation)
-
Power BI (dashboarding and data visualization)
-
Strong proficiency in SQL (data extraction, transformation, optimization)
-
Profound knowledge in C#, GitHub, Java Script, Web Services as well as AI Tools

Expertise in operating within a Linux environment

Experience with software development principles (e.g., version control, modular design, APIs)

Experience integrating or working with SAP (e.g., ECC, S/4HANA) or similar ERP systems
Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills

Experience in data-driven decision-making and financial impact validation

Ability to operate in a matrixed, global organization

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences

Experience in cGMP or regulated environments preferred

Familiarity with regulated documentation, data governance, cloud platforms (Azure), or APIs/integration frameworks

Background in Agile or DevOps methodologies

Strong communication skills in English, German would be a plus

For the Linz location, compensation is based on the collective agreement of the Austrian chemical industry. For this position, we offer attractive remuneration commensurate with your qualifications and experience (statutory minimum according to the collective agreement of the Austrian chemical industry: € 65.605,54 gross per year on a full-time basis). Thermo Fisher Scientific is committed to performance-based compensation above the collective agreement.
