The Centre for Teacher Education at the University of Vienna is home to the Austrian Educational Competence Centre Biology (AECC Biology). The centre conducts scientific research in the field of teaching and learning of Biology. Through innovative, practice-oriented national and international research, teaching and development projects we contribute to the advancement of biology education in schools and other educational institutions. We aim to use the results of our research to derive evidence-based recommendations for school practice, education policy, and the initial and continuing professional development of biology teachers. The current research foci of our team are education for sustainable development (ESD), environmental education, climate change education and biodiversity education, as well as scientific inquiry, particularly experimental skills and understanding the nature of science (NOS).
At AECC Biology, you can expect to work with a team of highly engaged researchers. We offer innovative state-of-the-art research projects and interdisciplinary collaborations. The position is to be filled as of September 1, 2026 for the duration of the absence of an employee.
Your primary area of responsibility is the further establishment and management of the research at the AECC Biology. The tasks include research support, funding acquisition, engagement in third-mission, administrative and organizational activities, as well as the management of the two research facilities Teaching-and-Learning-Laboratory and Bee.Ed.
