The Doctoral School offers 3-months Completion Contracts starting in winter semester 2026/27 for fellows of the DocSchool who have held a position as University Assistant (praedoc) or Project Staff Member (praedoc) at the University of Vienna before. The VISESS Completion Grants aim to support VISESS fellows during the final phase of their doctoral studies to focus on the completion and submission of their thesis.

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
Your main task is to complete and to submit your dissertation by the end of the grant period

You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time- .
You participate in your department's and the Doctoral School activities and workshops- .
You participate in conferences and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals- .
You actively seek support (workshops, training, coaching etc.) if necessary- .
You are enrolled in the doctoral programme of DSPL45 and a doctoral student member of VISESS who agreed to the Code of Good Practice

You have successfully passed your public presentation, submitted your dissertation agreement, and since then submitted your annual progress reports in time- .
You have shown active and regular participation in VISESS activities- .
You can provide a convincing statement that the completion and submission of your thesis can be expected by the end of the grant period- .
You can provide a statement from your supervisory team on their commitment to support you in the final phase of your writing process- .
You have ensured that there is no other funding source available- .
