As a Software Support Engineer at Altova, you’ll be the trusted expert customers turn to when they need guidance, solutions, and best practices. You’ll help users apply Altova software to real-world requirements, diagnose and resolve issues, and feed product insights back to our developers, testers, and technical writers. You’ll communicate confidently in both technical and business contexts and enjoy moving between customer conversations and deep technical problem-solving.

Windows desktop developer tools for XML, JSON, EDI, ETL, databases, UML, XBRL, and more

High-performance server applications for Windows and Linux using the same technologies

Rapid application development tools and server applications for mobile platforms

Regulatory solutions (e.g., CbCR, EBA, ESEF, Solvency II) delivered via mobile apps or Excel VSTO add-ins
- Advise customers on how to implement Altova products to meet their goals

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; reproduce, analyze, and document findings

Communicate clearly with customers via email, phone, chat, remote desktop, and video

Collaborate with internal engineering, QA, and documentation teams on technical matters

Capture customer feedback and contribute to product quality and usability
- Language skills: Excellent English (C1). German is a plus

Communication: Clear, concise writing and speaking in technical and business settings

Customer support experience: Providing technical support across email/phone/chat/remote tools
Technical Strengths (any mix of the following is welcome)
- XML ecosystem: XML Schema, XSLT, XPath, XQuery, XBRL, UML

- EDI: EDIFACT, X12
- Databases & SQL: Driver configuration; working across dev/test/prod; JDBC/ODBC/ADO

App delivery: Familiarity with mobile app development & deployment (Android, iOS, Windows, HTML5)
- Systems: VM usage; installing/configuring Windows & Linux; containerization (e.g., Docker)
- Generalist mindset: Broad knowledge of software development processes and Internet technologies

The collective agreement minimum salary is 3,175 € gross per month (on a 38.5-hour basis). The actual salary amounts to 3,900 € gross per month (on a 38.5-hour basis). The salary is paid 14 times per year. The collective agreement Informationstechnologie, Datenverarbeitung (IT) applies.
Any accrued overtime is compensated in the form of time off.
